Tue 18th July rides

Postby Casper » Sun Jul 16, 2017 8:55 pm

hi all, i have spoke to Dave Steal today about rides for Tuesday, i was looking at doing a longer ride to The Cobbles Cafe, Holmes Chapel, a new cafe some of us visited a couple of months ago, its around 55 miles and i was looking at doing this ride 15-16 mph, dependent on who was on the ride.

Dave has asked me to also mention a smaller ride that was mentioned that Dave would be riding, Strawberry Fields in Uttoxeter, Dave is not 100% on riding Tuesday and does not Know the way to Strawberry Fields. so if anyone would be interested in leading this ride and knows the way please could you put a post on the forum or can i suggest that we all meet up at the normal time 9.45 am at the old club house, Wedgwood Ave, and can sort out destinations from there, if no one is interested in leading then i could take everyone out to Strawberry Fields and cancel the Cobbles ride.

Hi Phil
I will be out for the ride and happy to go with the majority. We discussed the Bramshall option this morning on the suggestion of Dave C at Fletchers. We rarely ride east on a Tuesday so this would be a nice change and new lanes. Your call though.

Hi Phil,

Hope to be able to make the Tuesday Cruise this week. I should be at the meet and then see what materialises.

Thanks,

Hi,

Will be there regardless.

Longer and faster is better for the training plan but any miles are good miles!

I'm happy to lead a ride to Strawberry Cafe tomorrow. The route I'm thinking of is 51 miles, but anyone wanting a shorter ride could join in at the bank at Trentham or Wedgwood car park. The return passes both of these points, so cars could be left at either.

Cheers,
Mike

Hi Phil,Will be along tomorrow not much distance wise between either destination, never been to Cobbles so my preference would be there. Paul J

Can't make it this week sadly, big school groups around so duty calls. Both rides sound good.

I'll join Dave C at the NatWest Bank at 1000 hrs. Strawberry Farm seems fine. Look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

I've reccied the route (and amended it - one road turned into a cart track in the middle although both ends were rideable) and have come up with two options - the difference is in the route back. A shorter one that uses some roads we have been on before (47.5 miles) and a longer one that uses more new roads (53.5). A decision can be made at the cafe. Most of the way out will be new to Tuesday Cruises once we get past Meir Heath (at least I've never been along them on a TC, others may have been). There main King of the Mountain stage is up to the Windmill - difficult to avoid in that direction, but at least everyone will be warmed up and still fresh. Small climbs out of Caverswall and Dilhorne with a slightly bigger one out of Greatgate. No significant climbs on the way back. This will be a steady pace - although not that much shorter than the Cobbles Cafe ride, that one may suit those who want to go faster? I suggest we see how many are out, and decide whether or not to go for two groups in the morning. If only one, we'll go for this one as we have people who are joining part way round.

Cheers,
Mike

Hello!
I'll join you tomorrow.
Probably go on the Holmes Chapel route because I don't often get out that way.
See you there

Hi All,

Will be out tomorrow and if I'm not at the start for 9.45am I will be at the Bank at Trentham for 10.00am.

Ride out to Holmes Chapel would be around 70 miles which is a bit of a jaunt for a Tuesday cruise for myself.

Cheers
Alan

Hi Dave, from the bank at Trentham, the shorter route I have is 39 miles, or only 37 miles from Wedgwood.

Hoping for more good weather,
Mike
